MAGNETIC COMPASS ADJUSTMENT REMOTELY

Ace Maritime is pleased to propose a new procedure for magnetic compass correction and the issue of deviation card. This new procedure involves swinging the vessel out at sea at the convenience of the Master and actual correction of the compass error with reduced costs to the company. Ace Maritime would like to re-affirm that this procedure would result in the vessel actually making a swing at its own convenient time and place, and note the readings as against the compass being adjusted (partially) at anchorage. This procedure will:

  • • Save additional costs to company of arranging special boats and port permissions.
  • • Prevent upsetting vessels schedules.
  • • Allow immense flexibility to the Master and the company in present day congested anchorages with unfavourable rules and regulations.
  • • Not require special planning during port call.
  • • Oil majors and vetting inspectors have welcomed this new procedure of compass correction.
